The Journey from Inception to Today
My business began with a vision to learn how to grill, and to satisfy my taste buds and save money at the same time. It was rough because I had no idea how to grill and I had no teacher/mentor to teach me. I had no plans on starting a business, just wanted to grill and be cool. This all started in 1985 on the back porch of a three flat apartment building where I burned everything I touched and I mean BURNT. I started taking my time and paid attention to what I was doing and learned that I didn’t need a five-alarm fire to grill but by 1991 I was decent and I loved it.
I kept honing my skills almost every weekend and had a group of testers to taste my products and give me THEIR HONEST OPINION, some were good and some were bad. I kept learning and improving and by the year 2000 it all exploded, SLY BONES CATERING was born LEGALLY. SLY BONES wanted to provide exceptional products and services to our community and friends. In the early days, it was just a small operation run from my home, but with dedication and hard work, the company steadily grew volume wisely. Over the years, we have expanded our range, hired talented staff, and built a loyal customer base.
As the business evolved, we adapted to changing market trends and embraced innovation to stay competitive or better without sacrificing taste or quality. Significant milestones including several village festivals, personal backyard and forest preserves events and corporate events and launching an online platform. We are looking forward to forming partnerships with other local businesses. Through challenges and successes, our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction has remained constant.
Today, my business stands as a testament to perseverance and the power of community and friend’s support. Looking forward, we aim to continue growing, exploring new opportunities, and delivering value to our clients.
